Travel and Lodging:
We have secured discounted rates at the University Inn for conference participants. When booking rooms, mention the conference to receive the discount. There are limited rooms available- booking soon is a good idea.
859-278-6625www.universityinnky.com
The rates are:
1 Queen= $79.00
2 Fulls=$85.00
1 King=$89.00
2 queens=$95.00
Additionally, in order to facilitate transportation we will be hosting a shared ride/lodging board (password secured) on this website as well so that participants can self-coordinate shared hotel rooms and rides. This may be particularly useful as it is generally much less expensive to fly into Louisville (SDF) or Cincinnati (CVG) than Lexington. We hope that by coordinating rides, folks could share rental cars to lower the cost of travel. Additionally, there is the possibility of homestays for graduate student participants with local graduate students, but these opportunities are very limited and a number of people have already inquired after them. We will do our best but there is a finite amount of space. There will be space on the message board to coordinate these homestays as well.
We will be posting the tentative schedule of sessions within the next two weeks. We'd also like to remind participants that the conference features two graduate student paper competitions- details can be found at http://www.politicalecology.org/2011/10/announcing-two-graduate-student-paper.html . The deadline for paper submissions is March 2.
For regular updates on the conference, including the ride and lodging board, details on field trips, conference posters, and more, check politicalecology.org regularly. For updates, you can also follow @ukpewg on twitter.
